Elliot Lake driver charged with impaired

On Oct. 7, 2020 shortly after 8:35 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a domestic call for service at a residence on Dunlop Lake Road in the City of Elliot Lake.

As police neared the residence, a vehicle could be seen leaving the premises and as a result, a traffic stop was initiated. While speaking to the driver, the officer determined the driver had consumed alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, a 49-year-old from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The driver was issued a 90 day administration driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and the motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Nov. 3, 2020.
