Early morning disturbance call leads to trespassing charges

Two suspects fled the area prior to police arrival, but were located walking on Highway 17

On June 2, 2023 shortly after 5 a.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at a residence on Highway 17 in the community of Serpent River First Nation.

The Serpent River First Nation Fire Department were at the same address for a small fire near a shed prior to police arrival. The two suspects [who are alleged to have] caused the disturbance and the small fire left the property. One of the suspects was on conditions not be at that residence.  

Shortly after 6 a.m., police located and arrested two individuals walking along Highway 17 and transported them to Blind River detachment.

As a result, Kyle Boissineau, 27 years of age from Serpent River First Nation, was charged with:
    •    Trespassing at night
    •    Unlawfully in dwelling house
    •    Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court (two counts)

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice video bail in Blind River on June 2, 2023, and was remanded into custody.

Alexandria McKie, 28 years of age from Elliot Lake, was charged with:
    •    Trespassing at night

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on July 6, 2023.
