SPANISH - An impaired driving complaint on Colonization Road leads to arrest and charges in Spanish.
On Feb. 27, 2023, at approximately 8:50 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop as a result of a complaint and it was determined the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages. They were subsequently arrested and returned to detachment for further tests.
Thomas Laforge-Budge, 29 years old from Spanish, was charged with:
• Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
• Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused's vehicle was impounded and their drivers licence was suspended for 90 days.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 3, 2023.
