Driver charged with impaired after pickup truck ends up in ditch

Two people were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries in crash north of Webbwood, the OPP says

SABLES-SPANISH RIVERS TOWNSHIP – A Sudbury resident faces impaired driving charges after the Manitoulin OPP responded to the scene of a pickup truck in a ditch on Sunday evening.

Police say on Sept. 17 shortly after 6:15 p.m., officers responded to the crash on West Branch Road in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township, north of Webbwood.

Two people were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the OPP said in a news release.

As a result of an investigation, police allege the driver had been consuming alcohol and he was arrested for impaired driving.

Milovan Pesukic, 54, of Sudbury was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired causing bodily harm
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Nov. 6.

The driver was issued a 90-day licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days, police said.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Pesukic in considered innocent unless proven guilty.
