Driver charged with impaired after admitting to police she had been drinking: OPP

On June 2, 2020 at 8:14 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members received a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver in Elliot Lake.

A vehicle description was provided to police who subsequently stopped the brown car on Charles Walk. The driver was spoken to who admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages and registered a fail on the approved screening device. As a result, the driver was arrested, driver's license suspended, and the vehicle was towed and impounded.

Elizabeth Miller, 66 years of age from Elliot Lake, was charged with:
    •    Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
    •    Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake, on July 7, 2020.
