Driver charged after admitting to drinking in his vehicle

On Jan. 10, 2018 at 11:46 a.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members received a call pertaining to a male consuming an alcoholic beverage while inside his vehicle which was parked downtown Elliot Lake, Ont.

Police located the vehicle and a subsequent traffic stop was conducted. A strong odour of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from the vehicle. After police investigation, the male driver admitted to drinking in the car.   

Andreas Sandrock, 55 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ont. was charged with:

  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor License Act (LLA).

The OPP remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive. Report impaired drivers. Should you observe a suspected impaired driver, please dial 911 or contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
