A driver was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after colliding with a moose on Highway 69.

The Ontario Provincial Police say the accident occurred shortly after 11 p.m.on May 26, south of Estaire Road in the City of Greater Sudbury.

Preliminary investigation by the OPP's Nipissing West (Sudbury) detachment indicated that the vehicle was travelling north on the highway when it collided with the moose.

The northbound lanes were closed for more than two hours as members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team (T.I.M.E.) processed the scene.

The investigation continues.
