Disturbance call results in mischief charge

MISSISSAUGA FIRST NATION - On March 14, 2020, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment responded to a disturbance at residence within the Territory of Mississauga First Nation.

Shortly after 5 a.m., [it is alleged that] a person was yelling, screaming outside a residence on East Street and left before police arrival. Police attended the residence and determined a kitchen window and shovel was damaged by this person.

A short time later, police located the [allegedly] intoxicated individual walking near the intersection of Village Road and East Street where an arrest was made. This person was taken to East Algoma OPP Blind River Detachment where he was lodged until sober.

As a result of the investigation, Liam Stevens, 24 years of age from Mississauga First Nation, Ont., was charged with mischief under $5000, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on May 7, 2020.
