SABLES-SPANISH RIVERS TOWNSHIP - On Jan. 11, 2022 at approximately 12:13 p.m. the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded a disturbance on Young Street in Webbwood.
The complainant reported that an acquaintance had returned home with a firearm. Further investigation revealed that the accused was on a prohibition order not to possess weapons.
Damon Lanteigne, 32 years old from Webbwood was charged with:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, contrary to section 117.01(1) of the CC
- Possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on March 7, 2022.
