Dispute between neighbours gets physical, leads to charges: police

Police say the an arguement turned physical and a 24-year-old has been charged as a result

On Aug. 10, 2023, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person in relation to a neighbour dispute on Hirshhorn Avenue in Elliot Lake. 

On Aug. 9, 2023, police were called in relation to an assault that had taken place. The complainant reported having a verbal argument with a neighbour. The situation then escalated when the neighbour threatened and assaulted the complainant.

William MacInnes, 24 years old, of Elliot Lake was charged with: 

  • assault
  • uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
  • mischief - obstructs, interrupts, or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment, or operation of property

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Sept. 18, 2023.
