Tossed coffee is assault with a weapon: North Bay cops

The accused and the victim are known to one another, police say

Police in North Bay have charged a man with assault with a weapon after a cup of coffee was thrown at a volunteer at a charitable organization yesterday.

Police say at 1 p.m. on June 20 a man entered a building and engaged in an argument with the volunteer.

"The victim and accused exited the building, at which point the accused threw a cup of coffee at the victim," says a police news release. "The victim did not sustain physical injuries as a result of the assault."

Joshua Acasaki, 22, of North Bay, is charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused and the victim in this incident are known to one another, police say.

Acasaki was released from custody on an undertaking and is set to appear back in court on August 8, 2023.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and he is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
