Boat stolen during Blind River sports dealership break and enter

Police say the theft happened between April 21 and the early-morning of April 23

A break-in at a power sports dealership in Blind River led to the theft of a boat, attempted theft of a side-by-side, as well as property damage earlier this week.

Officers with the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a break-in at Napa Power Sports in Blind River.

An investigation that began on Tuesday determined that sometime between April 21 and the early morning of April 23, suspect(s) cut through a galvanized chain link compound and used the parking lot next to the business to access the east portion of the business compound.

Police say that the suspect(s) took a Lund Jon boat - forest green in colour and valued at $1,600.

Damage to the fence on the property is estimated at $4,000 and police say the suspect(s) also attempted to take a side-by-side valued at $20,000 but were unsuccessful.

After viewing video footage, police say a pickup truck with an enclosed trailer was spotted on April 23 at 3:08 a.m. Police say they can only describe the truck as a full-sized pickup hauling a "very large tandem axle enclosed trailer with an estimated length of 18 to 22 feet."

Police say video shows the truck and trailer travelling at a slow speed on Industrial Road to Causley Street before entering the A&W parking lot and parking out of sight between two transports. The vehicle then exits the parking lot and goes eastbound on Highway 17.
