Blind River man arrested after selling stolen goods on social media

The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person in relation to a previous theft occurrence from a retail store on Hillside Drive South in Elliot Lake.

On Dec. 8, 2023, police were called to the retail store as numerous items were stolen by a person in the store the day prior. The male was captured on security cameras stealing the items. In addition, he was later selling the stolen items on social media buy and sell platforms.

On Dec. 29, 2023, police conducted a traffic stop on Causley Street in Blind River after recognizing the male passenger in a pickup truck.  

Jason Guy, 39 years old of Blind River, was charged with theft under $5,000 and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Feb. 8, 2024.
