Blind River driver charged with possession of unmarked tobacco

Police located unmarked cigarettes after searching the vehicle of a suspended driver.

A 44-year-old driver from Blind River has been charged with possession of unmarked tobacco and other offences after OPP conducted a traffic stop in Sudbury on Highway 69 yesterday before 3 p.m.

Police say they determined the driver was suspended and arrested them. 

After searching the vehicle, the OPP found unmarked cigarettes.

As a result, the 44-year-old was charged with:

  • Driving while under suspension
  • Possession of unmarked cigarettes
  • Possession of unmarked cigarettes for sale

The vehicle was towed at the expense of the driver, according to police.  

The accused was released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 6 in Sudbury.
