ATV operator charged with impaired driving near Spragge

An ATV operator was arrested last evening after officers responded to a traffic complaint on Wagoosh Lake Road near Spragge.

As a result, a 62-year-old North Shore resident was charged with operation while impaired and is scheduled to appear in court on May 11.

Full text of a news release issued by East Algoma OPP follows:

On April 10, 2023 shortly before 8 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on an ATV travelling on Wagoosh Lake Road in the Township of the North Shore.

Police attended the area a short time later and located the ATV at the driver's residence. Upon speaking with the driver, police observed signs of impairment and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to Blind River detachment for further testing.

As a result, Bruce Meinzinger, 62 years of age from the Township of the North Shore, was charged with:
    •    Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on May 11, 2023.
