On Sept. 6, 2023, at approximately 11:15 a.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol and observed an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) in an apartment parking lot on Mississauga Avenue in Elliot Lake.
Police spoke to the operator and further investigation revealed they were prohibited drive. Subsequently, the driver was arrested and the ATV was towed.
Michael McNeelands, 40 years old, of Elliot Lake was charged with:
- operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
- possess licence while prohibited
The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Oct. 10, 2023.
