Arrest made in Espanola break and enter investigation

ESPANOLA - On Jan. 1, 2022 at approximately 1:50 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an individual that had broken into a residence on Tudhope Street, Espanola.

The individual had left the scene but was later located by officers and arrested.

Joseph Demers, 37 years old from Espanola, was charged with:
    •    break out of dwelling house, contrary to section 348(1)(ci) of the Criminal Code (CC)
    •    mischief under $5,000, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on March 7, 2022
