Arrest made in break and enter investigation

ESPANOLA - On Jan. 28, 2022 at approximately 12:44 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter on Mead Boulevard in Espanola.

The complainant provided a description of the individual who had [allegedly] entered a shed and stole various items, then fled in a taxi from the property. Officers located the taxi and observed the individual in the back seat. They were subsequently arrested and charged.

Jonathon Bois, 22 years old from Spanish, is charged with:
    •    break, enter a place - commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)
    •    theft under $5,000, contrary to section 334(b) of the CC
    •    possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 - in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
    •    possession of a schedule I substance - opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola at a later date.
