Arrest made after towel lit on fire in driveway: OPP

BLIND RIVER - On June 27, 2020, members from East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic dispute that occurred the evening prior in the Town of Blind River.

Investigation determined the ex-spouse attended the 38-year-old victim's home, left with a towel, set it on fire in the driveway and left.

On July 2, 2020 shortly after 5 p.m., police located the ex-spouse on Woodward Avenue and an arrest was made.

As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old from Blind River was charged with:

  • Mischief - domestic, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on Sept. 3, 2020.
