Altercation led to shooting at Sudbury Walmart: Police

Police cruisers are seen at Sudbury’s Walmart at approximately 11 p.m. March 31 investigating a firearms incident in which they report a 20-year-old man was shot.

An altercation between two men led to a shooting Thursday night at a Walmart location in Sudbury, which resulted in one of the men being hospitalized.

The 20-year-old gunshot victim sustained what police describe as a serious but non life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by paramedics. 

Police were called to the scene at approximately 8:45 p.m., states a release by the Greater Sudbury Police Service this morning. 

They were informed that two men were involved in an altercation inside the doors of the building. One of the men reportedly shot the other man and fled the scene before police arrived.

Police are describing the occurrence as a targeted and isolated incident, as the two men know each other, and that there is no immediate threat to public safety.
