Ontario Provincial Police have made five arrests and seized $26,000 in drugs in Espanola.

A search warrant was executed at a residence on Watson Avenue on June 6 where five people were arrested and charged with 

The seizure included suspected crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, heroin, oxycodone and hydromorphone.

On June 6, 2022 members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Watson Avenue in the Town of Espanola.

A search of the residence led to the seizure of over 50 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, over 30 grams of suspected fentanyl, over 5 grams of suspected cocaine, over 4 grams of suspected heroin, 16 suspected oxycodone pills and 8 suspected hydromorphone capsules. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is over $26, 000. Five people were arrested and charged.

Joseph Demers, 38-years-old from Espanola was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA (two counts)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code (CC)

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola at a later date.

Brodie Doucette, 28-years-old from Espanola was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola at a later date.

Kevin McGregor, 42-years-old from Espanola was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the CC

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola at a later date.

Sean Roque, 37-years-old from Espanola was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- heroin, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola at a later date.

Vanessa Shears, 35-years-old from Espanola was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Failure to comply with undertaking, contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the CC (three counts)

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola at a later date.
