A 28-year-old man from Brampton faces numerous drug- and weapons-related charges following a drug bust on Dec. 8, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Officers seized nearly $180,000 in drugs when they executed a search warrant at an address on Brodie Street. Officers found 218 grams of fentanyl worth $87,208, 817.5 grams of methamphetamine worth $81,751, 109.5 grams of cocaine worth 10,958, as well as $450 in cash. Also seized was a 9-mm semiautomatic handgun with a prohibited magazine, a bullet-proof vest and evidence of drug-trafficking including scales, packaging material, a hot plate, food colouring and a blender, which indicated a drug lab, said police.

GSPS said its Drug Enforcement Unit received information that an individual was actively selling illicit substances including Fentanyl in the West End and the downtown core.

The individual was identified, and an address on Brodie Street was frequently accessed by the individual, said police.

Around 11:50 a.m. on Dec. 8 the individual was seen leaving the residence. He was arrested without incident by detectives of the Integrated Crime Section.

Upon his arrest, detectives searched the man and located Fentanyl.

Once the man was in custody, officers searched the residence.

The man is charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule I Substance, unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, prohibited/restricted firearm accessible ammunition, possession of property obtained by crime, and resisting arrest.

He is scheduled to appear in bail court on Dec. 9 to answer to the charges.
