Military aircraft, ferry used in search for man missing in Georgian Bay

Ontario Provincial Police say they've found the body of a man who went missing on Georgian Bay early this morning.

The OPP's Southern Georgian Bay Detachment says a 67-year-old man was reported missing from a vessel at about 12:35 a.m.

Police say the man had moored his vessel on the west side of Beckwith Island and used an orange inflatable to retrieve an inflatable kayak and paddle board that had come loose.

They say searchers found a body near Beckwith Island at around 7 a.m. and have since confirmed it is that of the missing man.

Police were helped in their search by aircraft dispatched by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre at CFB Trenton, as well as  the Indian Maiden ferry of the Beausoleil First Nation.

OPP thanked all searchers for their help with what they called a "very tragic marine incident."
