Hermione Elizabeth (Liz) Mitchell
(August 27, 1933 - October 14, 2022)

The family of Hermione Elizabeth (Liz) Mitchell sorrowfully announces her peaceful passing at the North Shore Health Network in Blind River.

Brave and bold throughout her 89 years, she and her husband Don would have celebrated their 60th anniversary later this month.  She has joined her oldest son Brad and left behind a legacy of love with her sons David (Marty) and Jeff (Tanya) and her cherished grandchildren Kate, Samantha, Bailey, Theo, and Nash.

Hermione was proud to have grown up on the Bruce Peninsula as the daughter of the late Malcolm Henry White and Alice Marjory Tyson.  She was the only sister of the late Donald White (Barbara), Albert White (Jane), and the late Eric White (Sandi).  Sister-in-law to the late Leta Brearley, the late Mary Mitchell, the late Dr. Fred Mitchell, and the late Freida “Dolly” Briscoe.

She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

We appreciate the care shown by Dr. Deverell and the staff of the North Shore Health Network (Blind River) and we extend a special thank you to personal care workers Rachel, Nancy, Ingrid, Nicole, and Heather for the exceptional support and compassion shown throughout the last several years.

Hermione’s family and close friends will miss her stories and her kindness. She enjoyed time spent at the cottage or on the golf course with friends. She was passionate about curling and could often be found coaching from her chair at home. But her favourite position was being Sito to her grandchildren because family was always closest to her heart.

Funeral service for close friends and family will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 11am with a light luncheon to follow in the church hall. Please ensure Covid precautions are being followed.

Should you wish to make a memorial donation, please consider the North Shore Health Network, Blind River Site, or a local charity of your choice.
