Joyce Miller PIC

October 13, 1937 – October 18, 2020

Joyce passed away unexpectedly at her home in Blind River at the age of 83. Reunited with her beloved husband Terry (2004). Dear mother of Nigel (Karen) and Megan (Robert). Proud grandmother of Keelan, Brennan and Trevor. Born in Wales, Joyce was the eldest daughter of the late Hugh and Decima Shord. She was the loving sister of Liz, Phil and Maggie. Dearly loved, she will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Joyce emigrated to Canada in 1957. In 1971 she settled in Blind River where she developed many long-lasting friendships. These included her neighbors, fellow golfers at Huron Pines Golf Club and her mates in her biweekly bridge club. At the time of her passing, Joyce was a longtime and still very active volunteer for both St. Saviour’s Anglican Church and North Shore Health Network-Blind River.

Joyce was quick to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humour. Joyce and Terry met at a dance hall in Wales. Together they carried their love of dancing onto the floor at the Blind River Curling Club dances. She enjoyed travelling with her friends and family and explored many parts of the world…she especially loved having a glass of wine with friends in her backyard. We will forever miss her beautiful smile and her generous and loving heart.

The family wishes to sincerely thank all of her friends who were there for her in sickness and health.

Joyce was deeply passionate about the Tree of Lights and in lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the NSHN Auxiliary Tree of Lights on line at  www.nshnfoundation.care or by cheque mailed directly to NSHN Auxiliary 525 Causley Street, Blind River, ON P0R 1B0.

A private family service will be held with a Celebration of Joyce’s Life to be held at a later date.
