MCFADDEN, Catherine “Cass” (nee Cassidy)
April 10, 1933 – January 8, 2024
With heavy hearts the family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, mother in- law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister in-law and friend, at Golden Birches Terrace, at the age of 90. Predeceased by her husbands, Bill McFadden and Sandy Ciotka and her sons, Andrew and Tom Ciotka. Cherished mother of Cassandra Thompson (Michael), Andrea Rainville (Gerard), Mackie Ciotka and Mary Jo Roy (JP). Gramma Catherine to Chris, Greg, Mike, Tabatha, Ryan, Samantha, Katryna, Alysha, Jade, Austin, Skylar, Carla, Corrie, Sierra, Roberta and Michaela. Great Grammie to 28. Survived by her sister in-laws Marilyn Cassidy, Rachelle Ciotka, Marion Glasko, Nadia Tkaczuk and Sandra Park. Fondly remembered by her McFadden children, Mike, Katherine, Kim, Bruce and Shannon and their families. Aunt Cass will be forever missed by Corie, Dodie, Patricia and her other nieces and nephews.
Catherine was a well respected and dedicated nurse who practiced her entire career serving the Blind River area and was instrumental in initiating programs that promote better health care. She was very active in her community as a Girl Guide Leader/District Commissioner and was a devoted member of St. James the Greater Parish and CWL. Her greatest joy was family, especially the relationship she shared with everyone. She will be remembered for her classy look and great smile.
The family thanks the staff at Golden Birches Terrace for their excellent care over the years.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 11:30 am at St. James the Greater Parish, 44 Lakeside Avenue in Blind River with Father Clarence officiating. Light luncheon in church basement following services.
The family recognizes the difficulties of winter travel, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
