Aubrey Carman Mason passed peacefully aged 82 at Golden Birches Terrace in Blind River on March 22, 2020 surrounded by family and friends.
Aubrey was born January 8th, 1938 in Sand Lake, Ontario to Sarah (nee Miller) and Carman Mason. Aubrey was raised on the Mason family farm with his sister Verna Rickward (Harvey) and his brother Robert Mason (Marion).
Aubrey was predeceased by his wife Marie Jeanne “Jan” (nee Nadon). He will forever be missed by his children Ken (Jennifer), the late Dennis (Karen), Karen (Peter), Stephanie (Chris) and Tammy (Glenn); his grandchildren Lisa, Brent, Chantal, Bob, Erika, AJ, Mathieu, Krysten, Bradley, David, Ben, Jacob, Nathan and 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Aubrey lived an adventurous life that was reflected in the photos he took, the home videos he made with his camcorder and how he loved to travel. Many of these trips were to visit with family, where along the way he would enjoy the scenery and time with his wife Jeanne. These adventures often carried even deeper meaning because most of the time he was driving on roads that he built throughout his decades working in road construction. His willingness to say yes to life leant well to a diverse set of interests, you could find Aubrey at horse pulls, fairs, pow wows or spending time at The Riverside listening to music, having a cold one and hanging out with his buddies. Not only did he have a proper hand at gardening and making delicious canned goods, he was also very skilled at wood working. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed nothing more than creating a delicious meal for his family and friends to share. He will be missed; his openness and his generosity certainly inspire.
A celebration of life will be held at a later dates in both Kearney, Ont and at the Riverside Tavern in Blind River.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Sand Lake Log Church, c/o Wayne Garrett, 53 Phair Ave., Wallaceburg, ON, N8A 2M4 or Golden Birches Terrace Blind River would be appreciated.
