November 15, 1936 - January 27, 2022

With a heavy heart, I regret to announce the passing of the love of my life, Gary.

Loving husband, best friend and partner in crime of JoAnne Houle for the most amazing (almost) 28 years.

Predeceased by his parents Martha and Napolean Houle. Eldest brother of Roger (Jeanine), Gord (Gloria), Paul (Sandy), and Jimmy (Barb). Loving stepfather of Christopher, James and Alan. Father figure and mentor for 10 proud years to Chinoodin, the grandson he called his own. Brother-in-law of Patricia (late Len). Predeceased by Ron (Dianne), Al (Diane), Terry (Jean-Marc) and Jeff. Proud and special Godfather of his niece Wendy. He had numerous nieces and nephews who will miss his stories and contagious laugh. He will forever hold a special place in everyone’s heart and memories.

Special thanks to all the staff at Golden Birches where he resided for 5 years for making Gary feel at home. They showed a lot of compassion and caring beyond what can be imagined.

Although Gary had no children of his own that didn’t stop him from doing what he could to make sure he could help a child feel safe, loved and heard. A foster parent since 1967, Gary was able to create a safe home for many children. His wife JoAnne opened her arms and heart to share his passion and journey.

As a school bus driver, cab driver, bartender and bellhop (now you can see where he got some of his stories), he sure had an array of memories to share. “But that’s another story” was his favorite saying. His beautiful eyes and smile would light up a room and he brought many hours of laughter to family events.

Tonight, when you think of Gary, remember a story or tale, he told you. “That was before Christ was a cowboy” another saying he had…but that’s another story.

Until we meet again “There Stands the Glass”, his favorite song.
