Irene Mary Gilroy (nee Wozniak) 85, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Manor, Elliot Lake on March 12, 2023.
Irene was born in Geraldton, Ontario where she grew up with her siblings Claudia, Lenore, Diane, Shirley, Barbara (predeceased) and Eddy. Irene moved to Elliot Lake in the late 1950’s where she raised her beloved sons Derek (predeceased) and Dwight.
She was a devoted mom who took her sons camping, instilling in them her love of nature, wildlife and pets. She was a dedicated hockey mom and always proud of her boys. She also devoted her life to her Scriptures.
Her love of travel took her to places like South America, Cuba and winters in Florida. After holding different jobs, she made her career as the Tax Clerk for City Hall. In retirement, she continued her travels in winter and enjoyed summers hiking, four wheeling and time by the lake.
Irene will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Dwight extends a special thank you to Dr. Spencer and the caring and compassionate staff at St. Joseph’s Manor. They made her final years comfortable and happy.
