DuPONT, Saima Lilia (Lily)

The family announces with sorrow, that Saima Lilia (Lily) Lehtinen DuPont of Elliot Lake Ontario unexpectedly passed on April 03, 2023 in her 90th year. 

Saima Lilia (Lily) was born on October 01, 1933 in Port Arthur Thunder Bay.  Lily lived in Mabella until moving to Geraldton in 1943 where she completed her schooling.  In the summer of 1949, Lily worked as a Farmerette in the Niagara Region.  Lily worked at the Royal Bank for 4 years after graduating.  She met her husband Eddy there and they were married in Geraldton on September 3, 1955. 

Lily was a friendly, helpful person who saw the good in everyone.  She and Eddy made many friends in all of the places they lived.  Eddy was a mine hoistman and the family moved around a lot.  They lived the longest at Leitch Gold Mine in Beardmore, Ontario and on Walter Avenue in Lively, Ontario.  They also enjoyed 6 years on Peterson Court in Thunder Bay.  They retired and settled in Elliot Lake, Ontario in 1997. 

Lily is predeceased by her husband Eddy (October 2, 1999) and her parents Eino and Selma Lehtinen.  She is survived by her brother Arne (Arlene), her 5 children Cathy Beres (Frank), Gail Pleuna (Larry), Lorne DuPont (June), Sharon Jones (Andrew) and Brian DuPont (Brenda).  She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Saima Lilia (Lily) Lehtinen DuPont aka Mom and Gramma will be missed daily.  As per Lily’s request, there will be no service.
