It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Doreen Mary Lauretta Doyle at the St Joseph’s Hospital in Elliot Lake on January 15, 2023 at the age of 95 years. Pre-deceased by her parents Harry and Mayme Barkell of Chaput Hughes and her beloved husband Malcolm “Mel” Doyle in 1987. Loving mother to Terry (Mary), Judy (late Julien), late Michael, Debbie (late Ron), Patti (Pierre), Bart (Jane) and Jeff (Connie). She will be missed greatly by her 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren of whom she was so proud. Dear sister of Marilyn (late Mitch), late Don (Marilyn), late Ross (Shirley), Pat (late Frank) and Brian (Harmonie).
Doreen and Mel were pioneers in Elliot Lake. Mel arrived in 1956, followed by the family in 1957. They bought one of the 1st available houses on Poplar Road, a home that Doreen made a source of warmth and hospitality for all who entered therein. Her loving presence will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held at the Elliot Lake Funeral Chapel & Cremation Centre (36 Ontario Ave) on Thursday January 26th between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The memorial service will be on Friday January 27th, 2023 at 11:00 am from Holy Trinity United Church in Elliot Lake.
