Helen passed away peacefully on February 6 in Blind River, Ontario from leukemia. Predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Mary Kuseler (nee Cruise), her brothers Lloyd and Raymond and her eldest daughter Lee-Anne, Helen is survived by her brothers Bill (Ellen), Ronnie (Diane) and Earl (Evelyn) and her children Steven (Karen), Susan (Mike), Danielle (Fraser) and Sean (Colleen) as well as 5 grandchildren. Mom will be greatly missed by her many caring lifelong friends in Ottawa, Calgary and Sault Ste Marie.

Helen was born in a log farmhouse in Renfrew County and lived an often-challenging childhood without running water or electricity, nevertheless excelling in school before moving on her own to Ottawa at a young age. Abandoned by her husband, Helen prevailed over many hardships providing for her 5 children. Helen enjoyed reading and playing cards, had an eclectic taste in music and would have loved to be watching skating and curling at the Olympic Games.

We thank the caring staff at the Blind River Hospital for their compassion and support during her illness. In mom's memory, in lieu of flowers or cards, please spend time with a loved senior or a single parent child, time and support that could make a big difference in that person's life.

Interment of ashes in Renfrew to follow.
