DIOTTE, Richard (Dick)

DIOTTE, Richard (Dick) passed away peacefully on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Earl's Court Long Term Care Facility in London, ON at the age of 86. Born in Montreal, PQ, he was the son of Emmanuel and Bernice(Scott)Diotte. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Marjorie(Maddocks)Diotte. Devoted father to Stephen(Lillian) of Calgary, AB, Lorna(Donald) of Guelph, ON and James(Sandra) of King City, ON. Cherished grandfather to Samantha, Madison, Adam, Derek, Brent, Troy, Alex and Cassie. Great-grandfather to Gryffin, Oliver and Xander. He is survived by his brother Murray(Jean)Diotte and his sisters Genevieve Duguay and Nadine Briggs, along with several nieces and nephews.

Dick developed his expertise in Industrial Relations in Tracy, PQ. He moved to Elliot Lake, ON in 1975 to help lead the town's revitalization. Elliot Lake grew from a town of 6,000 to a city of over 20,000, thanks, in part, to his efforts. His legacy, Elliot Lake Retirement Living, helped stabilize the community after the closure of the mines in the late 1990’s.

Honoring his wishes, there will be no formal visitation. Funeral Mass will be held on September 12, 2022 at 11:00 at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 1839 Notre Dame Dr, St. Agatha, ON followed by a reception. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
