February 21, 1941 – November 5, 2022

Elmer has entered into his haven of rest; he will sail the wide seas no more.

Elmer was the loving husband of Maureen (Fitzpatrick). He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Rosaline (nee Helmer). Wonderful father to Vandra (Alan), Erik (Angela) and Inalyn (Neil). Special Papa to Tyler (Jessica), Brittney (Paul), Hannah (Josiah), Olivia (Andrew), Aileigh (Tyler), Luke (Emma) and Claire. Papa Elmer to Amelia, Jaden, Tayven, Grant, Austin, Calvin, Samuel, Miller, Kane, Allison and Rosie.

Elmer was the son of the late John Emil and late Aina Carlson. Elmer is survived by his sister Elina Bouchard of North Bay. Elmer is the brother of the late Edwin (late Mary), late Gladys, late Ernest (Eleanor), late Eddie, late Evald (Katherine, late Thelma), late Rose (late Sam), late Lillian (late Carl), late Irene (late Leonard), late John Emil Eddy and late Gloria (Horace). Elmer is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Fortunately for Elmer his passion was also his career. He was a commercial fisherman and captain of the John Emil. He often told stories of being a small boy of 3 years old and fishing at the docks with his dad and older brothers. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman. His walk with the Lord was vital to who he was and how he lived his life. He was an active member of Calvary Gospel Church.

Dad leaves a legacy of faith, honesty and love. We are so grateful for having him in our lives.

We would like to thank the staff at Golden Birches for their care and compassion in this past year.

A service to remember Elmer will be at Calvary Gospel Church on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 11am with Pastor Mark Francois and Pastor Phillip Carlson officiating. Burial at Hillside Cemetery will follow.

Donations can be made in memory of Elmer to Golden Birches Terrace or Calvary Gospel Church.
