TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays recalled right-hander Trent Thornton from triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday and designated left-hander Ryan Borucki for assignment.

Thornton entered Tuesday night's game against the Chicago White Sox with an 0-2 record and 3.52 earned-run average over 10 relief appearances with the Blue Jays this season. He was optioned to the Bisons on May 14.

Borucki had two stints on the injured list this season (hamstring strain, finger blister) and struggled with control when on the mound.

He had a 9.95 ERA over 11 appearances and did not record a decision.

Right-hander Nate Pearson, meanwhile, who was on a rehab assignment with single-A Dunedin, was slated to travel to Buffalo on Tuesday and could pitch for the Bisons on Wednesday.

Pearson, who has not pitched for the Blue Jays this season, went on the IL on April 4 due to mononucleosis.

Left-handed reliever Tim Mayza (left forearm inflammation) was scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday and Taylor Saucedo (right hip discomfort) was set for a bullpen session on Wednesday.
