"Appeal heard for gravel pit plan on Blanding's turtle land near Lake Lauzon" is a story of four groups and their conflict over a township zoning bylaw that allows for a gravel pit to be set up on sensitive public land. The conflict is before the Ontario Land Tribunal and concerns an area of land that is home to endangered Blanding's turtles. 

"Blind River musical trio to close southern Ontario film event" is about a popular trio of musicians, Women in Song, who have been invited to participate in a prestigious arts event.

"Samaritans in Elliot Lake already starting on next Christmas Shoebox program" is about a group based out of the Fellowship Baptist Church and their continuing efforts to prepare to support children in need overseas next Christmas.

Red Wings help to raise funds, awareness of Congenital Heart Disease: It is an illness that has hit Elliot Lake and the Red Wings with at least one child in the community requiring several surgeries. Red Wings owner's niece has also been affected by it so the team came together with the North Shore Cruisers car club to raise awareness of and funds to help families with children living with congenital heart disease. 

Area residents learned more about past and present goings-on as well as future plans in store for Blind River when we covered a virtual information session by Blind River Town council and mayor Sally Hagman.
