Elliot Lake students learn to fill charcuterie boards

Local restaurateur shares tips and tricks on the preparation of delicious and aesthetically pleasing arrangements

Culinary students at Elliot Lake Secondary School (ELSS) learned some steps about how to create pleasing charcuterie (otherwise known as deli) boards.

Local restaurateur Debbie Wylde joined the Hospitality and Tourism Specialist class to teach them how to prepare delicious and aesthetically pleasing charcuterie boards.

Wylde is the owner of the popular Elliot Lake Blossoms Bistro a restaurant known for its variety of deli-like dishes and soups.

Students listened to Debbie Wylde's story of how her life experiences lead her to open the very successful Bistro, according to teacher Mitch Landriault.

“Debbie led students through how to create their own charcuterie board,” he said. “Students learned about what items create an appealing charcuterie board as well as safely using a meat slicer, vacuum sealer and following all food safety protocols.”

“Students were very appreciative of Wylde taking time to share her knowledge and expertise,” Landriault said.
