Zero new cases of COVID-19 reported by Public Health Sudbury and Districts for Saturday June 26

There is one new outbreak and 39 active cases of COVID currently being monitored by public health

Public Health Sudbury and Districts (PHSD) has reported zero new cases of COVID-19 for Saturday.  This is the third time this month that zero new cases have been reported in the daily summary.   PHSD has also reported 39 active cases being watched locally.

Also, since the PHSD began tracking COVID-19 cases just over 15 months ago, there have been 2,165 total COVID-19 cases confirmed locally. PHSD also said 2,126 of those cases have now been resolved. The details were outlined on the PHSD website.

With respect to COVID-19 testing, 259,487 tests have been performed in the PHSD region as of June 25. No change in 24 hours. 

As for local vaccinations, PHSD reported a cumulative total of 168,819 vaccines given in the entire PHSD area as of June 25 at 4 p.m. No change in 24 hours.

PHSD is also reporting there are still six cases of "confirmed" variants of the COVID-19 virus.   

There are 975 cases that are "screened positive" for variants of concern; an increase of five new cases over the last count.

PHSD said additional time is required to genetically-sequence the virus in a positive sample and confirm it as a COVID-19 variant of concern.

PHSD has also reported there is  one new outbreak in the district. at the Discovery Early Learning and Care child care centre (Holy Trinity Site).  This occurred as of June 25. The other outbreak that was active up until yesterday was at Flying Post Camp Logistics at the IAMGOLD - Cote Lake Mine Project, near Highway 144 just North of the Watershed, and it has been declared as ended.  

Also, at Sudbury's Health Sciences North, as of June 25 there were five patients with confirmed COVID-19 at the hospital.  This information has not been unpdated by HSN. As reported on the HSN website, this included four COVID-19 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). In addition to this there are two admitted patients "being tested" for COVID-19. HSN said none of the patients being tested has been admitted to the ICU at this time.

On the provincial COVID-19 register today, the Ontario government daily website reported 346 new confirmed COVID-19 cases across the province. Also today, the province reported 13 new deaths had occurred in the past 24 hours.
