THESSALON - On July 4, 2017 at around 4:05 a.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members responded to an assault related call on Park Street in in the town of Thessalon. 

A male left the residence prior to police arrival and vehicle descriptors were provided. Police later stopped the vehicle on Highway 17 in Plummer Additional Township. 

As a result of the investigation, police determined the male driver had been consuming alcohol. He was subsequently arrested, charged, driver's license suspended, and the vehicle was towed.

Bruce Tourond, 54 years of age, from Winnipeg Manitoba, was charged with:

  •   Care or Control Over 80 mgs, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on Aug. 31, 2017.
