Between May and October, staff at the Sault College Employment Solutions Blind River office were busy putting jobs up on their wall as part of the 50 Jobs campaign.

The goal was to place 50 job seekers in employment, and with final results now tallied, Employment Solutions is pleased to announce that a grand total of 52 Employment Solutions clients found work over the course of the campaign.

“With 50 Jobs, we really wanted to highlight the free services and employment supports that are available to job seekers in the Blind River, Elliot Lake, North Shore, and East Algoma areas,” said Lee Ann Blondeau, Team Lead for the Sault College Employment Solutions Blind River office. “Placing 50 people in work was an ambitious target for us and we’re glad to have reached it. I’d like to thank all of the clients and employers who worked with us throughout the campaign to make it a success.”

Though the campaign is now closed, free one-on-one job search assistance is available year round for those who need help finding work, changing jobs, or who are looking to move from part-time to full-time employment.

Clients who work with an Employment Solutions Consultant can benefit from services that include job search support, resume and cover letter assistance, interview skills development, connections to employers, work placements and more.

At the Blind River Office, appointments with Employment Consultants are available on a drop-in basis every Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 3 pm. The office also provides services to communities along the North Shore.

Employment Solutions also works with over 500 employers each year to assist with human resource needs such as job postings, collecting and screening resumes, interview and training space, job fairs, work placements, referrals from a pool of qualified candidates and a variety of incentives and funding to assist with hiring and training costs.

A department of Sault College, Employment Solutions helps job seekers aged 15 and up who are not in school or training find work in and around Sault Ste. Marie, Blind River and the North Shore.

To better serve clients, Employment Solutions operates from two offices in the Algoma District. The Blind River office can be found at 1 Industrial Park Road, Suite 205, while the Sault Ste. Marie office is located at 421 Bay Street on the 4th floor of Station Tower.
