What's your idea of a strategic plan for Elliot Lake?

Council and staff want to know want goals and objectives the city should focus on going forward

City council and staff are inviting the public to participate in the creation of a new Strategic Plan for Elliot Lake. The plan was last updated in 2014.

Elliot Lake city council received training on the strategic planning process from Tim L. Dobbie Consulting Ltd. during two training sessions held in May. On June 19, the Draft Action Plan was reviewed by the council and the public.

At the council meeting last Monday, the council announced a schedule for the public input phase:

One session is on Tuesday, Aug. 29. 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Three sessions are on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

  • 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

All sessions will be held at the Elliot Lake Public Library.

At the council meeting, Acting CAO Natalie Bray described the upcoming sessions.

“The whole [draft] strategic plan will be laid out for the public to view," she said. "There’s also going to be an online component so residents can go onto the city’s website and view all of the strategic plan goals and objectives and leave their comments on there as well."

Acting Mayor Andrew Wannan invited the public to the input sessions.

“We are hoping that we get great attendance. We are looking forward to your input and we appreciate all those that will come forward.

"Obviously, any help with this work is much appreciated. So, please try and attend,” Wannan added.
