Two new forest fires reported in Northeast region

Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services is reporting two new wildland fires this afternoon in the Northeast region.

Hearst 4, located 40 kilometres north of the community of Constance Lake First Nation on the north side of Highway 11, is measuring 300 hectares.

Hearst 5, located approximately 30 kilometres northwest of Constance Lake First Nation, is measuring nine hectares.

There are currently six other active fires in the region. Four of these are being observed, one is under control and one is not yet under control.

The fire hazard is high to extreme in the central portion of the Northeast Region this afternoon, while areas located south of Sault Ste Marie and North Bay are showing a moderate to high hazard.

A portion of the Far North is presenting a low to moderate hazard.
