Two new COVID cases confirmed by APH

Algoma Public Health has confirmed two new COVID-19 cases in the Algoma region.

Of the new cases, one is in the Sault Ste. Marie area with the other being from central and east Algoma.

The new cases bring the total number of COVID cases in Algoma to 219 since the start of the pandemic.

There are currently 21 active cases in the region with three in non-Algoma residents who are temporarily in the region.

Of the active cases, one is currently hospitalized.

Of the two new cases, case No. 218 was tested on March 15 and falls under the exposure category of close contact, meaning the individual was infected through close contact with a known confirmed case.

Case No. 219, tested on March 16, falls under the exposure category of unknown, meaning the individual did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

  • Central and east Algoma
  • Sault Ste. Marie and area
  • Elliot Lake and area
