HURON SHORES – Are you looking for a job?

Are you able to "remain inconspicuous during burial ceremonies"? Open and close graves and relocate earth?

The Municipality of Huron Shores may be looking for you!

The municipality, which includes the towns of Thessalon, Iron Bridge and Sowerby, is looking for a cemeteries caretaker.

The caretaker is needed for four active cemeteries – Arnill, Carlyle, Spruce Grove and Sunset Cemeteries – and two inactive cemeteries – Day Mills and McArthur.

According to the tender documents, in addition to being able to "act in a respectful manner when in discussion with the bereaved and remain inconspicuous during burial ceremonies" duties include providing timely grounds maintenance.

This includes grass cutting, whipper snipping, manicuring (of the grounds), tree trimming, leveling, soil and grass seeding.

Other duties include locating plots, assisting the board, record keeping, transporting people and equipment to, from and in between cemeteries, attending meetings and other duties as assigned.

All equipment and supplies for lawn maintenance and "monument straightening" will be provided by the municipality, according to the documents.

The deadline to apply is Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. at the township offices in Iron Bridge (lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted).
