Blind River council has received a list of goods stolen and later recovered by the local OPP detachment.

Council received an extensive report on the items that are being turned over to the town by the OPP as per the policing contract between the municipality and OPP.

“In keeping with our OPP contract all items obtained by the OPP from crime are turned over to the municipality to do with as they see fit,” clerk-administrator Kathryn Scott said in a report to council at its meeting Monday evening.

The list is extensive and includes stolen watches, hiking equipment, knives, a food mixer, speakers, personal accessories such as clothing, sporting goods, and a variety of tools.

Scott said the items had been viewed by senior administration and it was determined some of the tools will go to the town’s public works department to use.

“All the other items will be dealt with through our surplus policy and reported back to council.. once disposed of,” the clerk-administrator said in her report. “Any items determined undesirable by the clerk-administrator will be disposed of.”

Any money raised from the sale of the items will be reported to council with a recommendation as to where the funds will be allocated.

Council declared the items as surplus which would allow for them to be sold.
