Three new wildland fires confirmed in Northeast Region Monday

Three new fires have been confirmed in Northeast Region Monday.

  • North Bay 10 was confirmed this afternoon. It was a 0.1 hectare fire located next to Hwy 522, 2 kilometres southeast of Arnstein. The fire is out.
  • Cochrane 43 was confirmed this late afternoon. It is a 30 hectare fire located approximately 60 kilometres west of Attawapiskat. The fire is being observed.
  • Cochrane 44 was confirmed this late afternoon. It is a 10 hectare fire located approximately 50 kilometres west of Attawapiskat. The fire is being observed

Overall there are 30 active wildland fires in the Northeast Region; one is being held, five are under control and 24 are being observed.

Northeast Region    

There are currently 30 active wildland fires in the Northeast Region. Of these fires, 1 is being held, 5 are under control and 24 are being observed.

The were 3 new fires confirmed in the region:

North Bay 10 was confirmed this afternoon. It was a 0.1 hectare fire located next to Hwy 522, 2 kilometres southeast of Arnstein. The fire is out.

Cochrane 43 was confirmed this late afternoon. It is a 30 hectare fire located approximately 60 kilometres west of Attawapiskat. The fire is being observed.

Fires of note:

  • Cochrane 7 was confirmed on June 2 and is now under control. It is a 37,742 hectare wildland fire located northeast of Lake Abitibi.

Help fight forest fires: Stay clear of waterbombers!

When waterbombers approach a body of water, move close to the shore so they can perform their scoop safely. A waterbomber will not scoop from a lake or river if encroaching watercraft pose a safety hazard. Be safe, stay clear of waterbombers.

No Drone Zone: Be safe, stay clear of forest fires!

Flying drones around forest fires is both dangerous and illegal. When you fly a drone near a forest fire, you can put the lives of pilots, firefighters and other emergency personnel at risk. Be safe, stay clear of forest fires.
