Three new fires confirmed in Northeast Region

Three new wildfires are being confirmed Monday by provincial fire officials.

They are:

  • Bancroft 4 is a 0.4 hectare fire located about 7 kilometers north of Bon Echo Provincial Park and is under control.
  • Timmins 10  is a 0.3 hectare fire located about 3 kilometers east of Hardiman Lake and is being held.
  • Sault 9 is a 0.1 hectare fire approximately 2 kilometers southeast of Spragge and is under control.

According to a news release from Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services, there are 35 active wildland fires in the Northeast Region. Of those, 26 are being observed, two are not under control, and seven are under control.

Northeast Region    

There are currently 35 active wildland fires in the Northeast Region. Of these fires 26 are being observed, 2 are not under control, and 7 are under control.

There have been three new fires confirmed today:

  • Bancroft 4 is a 0.4 hectare fire located about 7 kilometers north of Bon Echo Provincial Park and is under control.
  • Timmins 10  is a 0.3 hectare fire located about 3 kilometers east of Hardiman Lake and is being held.
  • Sault 9 is a 0.1 hectare fire approximately 2 kilometers southeast of Spragge and is under control.

The fire hazard values are low to moderate for areas from Sudbury and south. For areas north of Sault Ste. Marie to Sudbury and to the northern extent of the region, fire hazard values are low to high. For a closer look at fire hazard conditions in your area, view our interactive map.

Fires of note:

  • There are no fires of note for the Northeast Fire Region at this time.

Help fight forest fires: Stay clear of waterbombers!

When waterbombers approach a body of water, move close to the shore so they can perform their scoop safely. A waterbomber will not scoop from a lake or river if encroaching watercraft pose a safety hazard. Be safe, stay clear of waterbombers.

No Drone Zone: Be safe, stay clear of forest fires!

Flying drones around forest fires is both dangerous and illegal. When you fly a drone near a forest fire, you can put the lives of pilots, firefighters and other emergency personnel at risk. Be safe, stay clear of forest fires.
