'Significant icing' possible with freezing rain tonight: Environment Canada

The freezing rain is expected to develop this evening before changing over to rain on Sunday morning

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Elliot Lake - Ranger Lake

Freezing rain beginning this evening.

Hazard:
Extensive freezing rain with significant icing possible. Ice accretion of 5 to 10 mm may occur on untreated surfaces.

Timing:
This evening to Sunday morning.

Discussion:
Freezing rain will develop this evening before transitioning to rain from southwest to northeast early on Sunday morning. Locations along and north of a line from about Chapleau to Earlton may not see a changeover to rain, and will eventually transition to snow by Sunday afternoon.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Road closures are possible. Utility outages may occur.
