The Timmins Rock came to the Elliot Lake Red Wings home rink of Centennial Arena and skated away with a 4-2 Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League win on Saturday night.

The Rock drew first blood in the opening minute of the first on a goal by Nicolas Pigeon who beat Red Wings netminder Sean Guerin on a 2-on-1 with Brady Harroun.

It remained 1-0 Timmins until midway through the second period when a power play allowed Wings forward Thomas Dimoulas to put one past Timmins goalkeeper Patrick Boivin.

The Rock regained the lead at 14:44 as Nolan Ring converted a chance on a play started by Nicholas Frederick, who drove the net initially.

Elliot Lake tied the game 3:40 into the third as Ethan Mercer moved in from the left point and took a shot that was deflected by Shawn St. Arnaud parked in front..

Brandon Rossetti gave Timmins the lead for good with 5:47 to go in regulation, beating Guerin with a backhand through a screen.

With Guerin on the bench for an extra attacker late, Pigeon sealed the win with an empty net goal in the final minute to cap off the win for the Rock.

The loss snapped Elliot Lake's four-game winning streak. The Red Wings now sit at 11-10-0-0 on the year and in fifth in the NOJHL's West Division.

Next up for the Red Wings is a trip to Sudbury on Thursday to meet the Cubs at Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex before taking on the Soo Thunderbirds the following night at home. Start is 7 p.m.
