Algoma Public Health has confirmed this evening of a potential high-risk COVID-19 exposure at Sault Area Hospital.

APH is advising anyone who visited 3B at Sault Area Hospital from Nov. 9 through to Nov. 12 of a potential high-risk exposure to COVID-19.

The health unit is advising anyone who was present during that time to get tested for COVID-19 regardless of their vaccination status.

Those who are vaccinated are asked to also self-monitor for symptoms and those who are not vaccinated are asked to self-isolate immediately for a period of 10 days, beginning from the day they visited 3B.

Algoma Public Health is also reporting 20 new COVID cases in the region, all in the Sault area.

The new cases bring the number of active cases in the region to 155 and there are currently 14 hospitalizations.

Of the new cases, 12 were exposed through close contact with a known confirmed case and seven are of unknown exposure, meaning they did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

The exposure of one case is currently under investigation and the isolation status of that individual is also being reported by APH as "under investigation" as well.

The 19 other individuals are all self-isolating at this time.
